Fringo: French in go

Most language apps give everyone the same 500 questions in the same order. Fringo does not. Every practice session is generated fresh by an AI pipeline built specifically around where you are, what you got wrong last time, and what you need to see more of right now.

What Fringo actually is

Fringo is an AI-powered French language learning platform with an adaptive engine that adjusts in real time to how you perform. It covers all four core skill areas: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. The content is never static, never recycled, and never one-size-fits-all. You get a different session every time because the AI builds it for you specifically, not for some average learner it imagined.

The part that took the longest to get right

Getting AI to generate consistent, high-quality French exercises is one thing. Getting it to know which exercises to generate next is another problem entirely. Fringo tracks your accuracy history, weights it against question difficulty, identifies your weakest skill areas across sessions, and uses all of that to decide what shows up in your next practice round. The goal was a system that notices you are struggling with written comprehension before you notice it yourself.

Progress XP that actually means something

Generally apps hand out XP for showing up. Fringo ties XP to real performance signals: accuracy on harder questions earns more, streaks compound your gains, and weak area breakthroughs give bonus bumps. Your level on Fringo is a reflection of what you can actually do, not how many days in a row you opened the app.

Why I built this

I kept running into the same problem with every language learning tool I tried. The content was fine at the start, then stopped feeling relevant once I moved past the basics. The app had no idea I was strong in one area and falling behind in another. It just kept going through its list. Fringo started as an experiment to see if AI-generated content combined with a real adaptive algorithm could fix that. The answer turned out to be yes, and then it turned into a full platform.

Developer note

Fringo is almost done. The learning engine, adaptive XP, AI content generation, and writing evaluation are all built and running. Billing and a few final polish passes are all that is left before launch. More soon.
